The work did not begin where it was published.

Nick Oliveri was born in 2000 in Nikolaev, Ukraine. Shortly before his first birthday, he was brought to the United States and raised in Massachusetts.

At the age of two, he taught himself to read and write.

Language came early. It stayed.

From the beginning, he showed little interest in passive systems of learning. School held his attention only in fragments. Books did not. He read widely across fiction and nonfiction, focusing not only on what was being said, but on how it was constructed.

Creation followed.

It did not arrive gradually.

As a teenager, he began designing mobile games, eventually publishing five titles across iOS and Google Play. He handled the design, mechanics, and direction himself.

At thirteen, he received a cease-and-desist letter from the Zamboni Company.

It clarified the boundary. He did not keep it.

He attended Bryant University in Rhode Island to study finance before leaving to pursue work more directly. He went on to cofound and help scale a company centered on innovations within the circular economy, assembling teams and operating at a level that required precision and care. He realized his communicative efforts drove a great deal of the company's progress.

In 2021, he stepped away from that work and relocated to San Luis Obispo, California.

There was a point where the work stopped being optional.

Earlier manuscripts had been written. They did not hold. This time, it did.

The result was The Conjurer, published on December 8, 2021. It became a #1 new release on Amazon in its category and received recognition from Kirkus Reviews, which described it as "a bold, tautly written work about the struggle to express oneself freely."

It was the first time the work held outside of him.

He brought the story to readers directly. It did not wait to be found.

The work continued.

His novella, A Genocide Too Small followed. Then Monsters in My Mind, published in the summer of 2022.

That third book marked a shift. It was written during a period of instability and internal pressure, and it reflects that directly. The work moves through questions of identity, purpose, and psychological fracture.

It does not attempt to resolve it.

It was not built for accessibility.

Instead, it became the most widely read work he had published.

From there, earlier material expanded. The Conjurer developed into the Stories of Shadow and Flames series, including Becoming the Conjurer and The Last Conjurer. What began as a single work revealed a broader structure.

In 2024, he took that work on the road. The tour spanned thirteen states and included more than fifty-five bookstore appearances, primarily with Barnes & Noble locations, along with independent stores. The scale of the tour placed him in direct contact with thousands of readers across the United States.

The work moved in the world.

He continues to write with consistency.

A thousand words a day is not a goal. It is the floor.

Those who meet him in person often describe something different than what appears on the page—more direct, less fixed. The work carries a certain stillness. The person behind it does not. There is a tendency toward extremes, toward intensity and release, toward a kind of movement that does not always resolve cleanly.

That tension is not separate from the work. It is the source of it.

It does not resolve.

He has described himself as a contrarian.

The term is imprecise.

His work resists fixed interpretation. It is built to hold under multiple readings, and at times, to remain unresolved.

The influences are not contained to one discipline.

Hesse, Kafka, Nabokov, Hemingway, and Woolf inform the literary architecture. Caravaggio, Michelangelo, van Gogh, and Basquiat shape the sense of intensity and form. The music reaches elsewhere, including Lil Wayne.

He recently announced a new novel for upcoming release. Wyatt Froggy's Book of Life is slated for widespread availability in 2027.

In 2026, his novel Monsters in My Mind has been exclusively optioned for screen adaptation.
